Ivar Dembovski, PhD

Ivar Dembovski is an Estonian entrepreneur who, together with his team, has built a successful exporting industrial company RAITWOOD | AS Rait. The company produces construction and finishing materials made from Nordic coniferous wood, which are exported to more than forty countries.

Ivar Dembovski has contributed to the development of the wood industry and the promotion of the use of wood materials in Estonia and abroad. This is based on his understanding that using wood materials significantly reduces the environmental impact of the construction sector and helps to store carbon removed from the atmosphere in the built up environment. Since 1996, he has been a member of the board of the Estonian Forest and Wood Industries Association, an umbrella organisation of the most successful export sector in Estonia. Ivar Dembovski has been a member of the Council at the Institute of Forestry and Engineering of the Estonian University of Life Sciences since 2018. He is a member of the Tartu Toome Rotary Club and a member of the Estonian Business Angels Network.

Ivar Dembovski has studied heat and electrical engineering. He obtained his doctorate at the University of Edinburgh in 1994, researching the legalities of institutional development of systems that provide information to the rural population. Ivar Dembovski has been involved in the development and implementation of teamwork and collective thinking methods at the Estonian Rural Development Institute.
